Executing precision hole making on structural steel components at elevated heights requires equipment that balances power output with a manageable dead load. Deploying standard stationary drill presses is physically unviable, while utilizing older magnetic drill models introduces high dead loads, elevating operational safety risks for the technicians.
The Eibenstock magnetic drill KBM-35X addresses these specific structural fabrication constraints. Manufactured in Germany, this magnetic core drill delivers a 1050W power output while maintaining a net weight of approximately 8 kg. It provides a deployable material penetration solution for steel erectors and telecommunication tower contractors.

Eibenstock magnectic core drill 35mm KBM-35X
Unlike conventional twist drilling, which converts the entire hole volume into metal shavings, the KBM-35X is engineered to utilize an annular cutting mechanism. This process only mills the outer periphery of the hole, ejecting a solid steel slug upon completion.
This core drilling method reduces the required motor torque, decreases penetration time by up to 50%, and significantly extends the operational lifespan of the 1050W motor when drilling diameters up to 35mm in 50mm thick steel plates.
Operating a core drill on vertical or overhead H-beams requires continuous anchoring stability and active thermal control. The KBM-35X integrates specific systems to manage these physical stresses:
Magnetic anchoring: The base is equipped with an electromagnet, providing a high-retention holding force against bare steel. This prevents equipment detachment during high-torque cutting phases and ensures safe overhead deployment.
Thermal management: Continuous steel penetration generates high friction and thermal buildup. The KBM-35X integrates an internal spindle cooling system. This mechanism directs cutting fluid straight to the cutting edge, mitigating thermal expansion, preserving the magnetic holding force, and preventing premature tooling failure.

Prior to deployment, verify compatibility with the following operating parameters:
| Technical Parameter | Metric Value |
| Equipment model | Eibenstock KBM-35X |
| Power input | 1050 W |
| Maximum drilling diameter (core drill) | 35 mm |
| Maximum drilling depth | 50 mm |
| No-load speed | 400 rpm |
| Magnetic holding force | 11,000 N |
| Spindle connection | 19.05 mm Weldon (3/4") |
| Net Weight | 8 kg |
The magnetic annular cutter/ twist drill bit is not included in the standard equipment package and must be procured separately based on your specific project requirements
The KBM-35X requires specific consumables to function within its designated safety parameters. Operating the equipment without these components will result in immediate tooling destruction.
Annular cutters: Operators must equip the 19mm Weldon shank with appropriately sized TCT (Tungsten Carbide Tipped) or HSS (High-Speed Steel) annular cutters, ranging from 12mm to 35mm in diameter.
Formulated cutting fluid: The continuous application of a water-soluble cutting fluid or bio-lubricant through the internal cooling tank is mandatory to manage operating temperatures and evacuate metal swarf during the cutting cycle.
